South Africa is recognised internationally as a "Favoured Golf Destination". Gordon's Bay, with two 18 hole Championship Courses within a fifteen minute drive (no pun intended!), five more within 30 minutes, and a further seventeen more within one hour, can confidently lay claim to being the perfect base from which to explore and experience, the wide variety of terrain and settings, "off-course" experiences, friendly atmosphere and value for money that golf in the Western Cape provides. We have listed the nearest 7 for you below!

For both the experienced golfer, and the beginner

All local courses provide both the experienced golfer, and the beginner, with an exciting and rewarding choice of environments, a number of which have been created by such internationally renowned course designers as Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Peter Matkovich and Ernie Els. Being located within an easy and short driving distance of Gordon's Bay the golfer is not only faced with very little traffic congestion but is also in the situation where one can relax and enjoy the magnificent views that they will experience to and from their chosen destination.

Prices at least one-third of those throughout Europe for comparative courses

With a price range that meets the pockets and purses of all golfers, (yes, ladies also love our local courses as well!), golfing in the Western Cape is definitely not an expensive experience for the visitor to Gordon's Bay. Feedback over the past twelve months highlights that local visitor fees are often at least one-third of those throughout Europe for comparative courses, where they exist.

Play with a view

Primarily Parkland, all courses are maintained to very high standards, many having installed solutions that address the now diminishing drought threats. They provide the average club golfer with fair challenges in majestic surroundings and the low club-house prices, linked to a friendly welcoming atmosphere therein, makes golf in the Western Cape even more economic as well as enjoyable from all aspects.

Just ten minutes from Gordon's Bay is the Momentum Driving Range, with its own teaching professional. There is also a fully equipped Pro Shop next door.

Gordon's Bay has a wide variety of accomodation for your stay

There is a wide choice of Tourism Grading Council of South Africa Rated Self-Catering Establishments, and Guest Houses, in Gordon's Bay, many of which recognise the differing needs of the visiting golfer. Their local knowledge ensures that a golfing break in Gordon's Bay is very special.

Not only is Gordon's Bay the "Heart of the Cape", it is the very "Heart of Cape Golf".

Phillip Jarvis - An English Golf Professional in SA

Having enjoyed golf all over the UK and also the European continent it was a pleasure for me to discover some years ago South Africa and the wonderful golf courses the Western Cape has to offer.

The courses are very varied offering lovely parkland and spectacular links courses at prices to suit every pocket depending on which you choose.

I have loved playing golf from an early age so much so I made it my career. I spent 5 years as a playing pro before becoming a club professional in several clubs near Manchester in the UK. The last 25 years I spent as the head teaching professional at Golf Club Tuniberg in south west Germany.

Having recently retired after having spent 50 years working and loving this great sport it was an unanimous decision of my wife Rita and myself to come and live and spend more time in this wonderful country. South Africa, particularly the Western Cape has so much to offer what most golfers are looking for. Great wine, delicious food, spectacular nature and of course ideal weather for golf though it can be pretty windy at times.

I can strongly recommend a visit to this golfers paradise where you will experience a warm welcome in every club regardless of handicap.
Having taken the plunge to live here my wife and myself do not regret it for a minute.
