Phillip Jarvis – An English Golf Professional in SA
Having enjoyed golf all over the UK and also the European continent it was a pleasure for me to discover some years ago South Africa and the wonderful golf courses the Western Cape has to offer.
The courses are very varied offering lovely parkland and spectacular links courses at prices to suit every pocket depending on which you choose.
I have loved playing golf from an early age so much so I made it my career. I spent 5 years as a playing pro before becoming a club professional in several clubs near Manchester in the UK. The last 25 years I spent as the head teaching professional at Golf Club Tuniberg in south west Germany.
Having recently retired after having spent 50 years working and loving this great sport it was an unanimous decision of my wife Rita and myself to come and live and spend more time in this wonderful country. South Africa, particularly the Western Cape has so much to offer what most golfers are looking for. Great wine, delicious food, spectacular nature and of course ideal weather for golf though it can be pretty windy at times.
I can strongly recommend a visit to this golfers paradise where you will experience a warm welcome in every club regardless of handicap.
Having taken the plunge to live here my wife and myself do not regret it for a minute.
